On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system requirements were first regulated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the European Commission. After the introduction, OBD regulations have been adopted by numerous countries around the world, typically implementing either US CARB/EPA OBD or EURO OBD. The written presentation conveys the collection of OBD regulations around the world. Meanwhile, the presentation discussion focuses on the changes in regulations and recent developments, including forecasts, since the last presentation (March 2022 European SAE OBD Digital Summit). An update from the SAE Worldwide OBD Regulations task force, J3248, is also provided which is focusing on published regulations (historical, in force, or draft).
