Signal Flow Analysis required for OBD Compliance Reporting

In this talk, we give an update on the advances and challenges of a tool based evaluation of signal paths for OBD to support the homologation of cars by authorities such as CARB. First, we present the current state of the approach and show how this enabled a German OEM to deliver the first analysis of signal paths to CARB in July 2022. Next, we talk about current challenges we still see and struggle with, e.g. multiple ECU evaluations of signal paths. Finally, we show how to tackle these challenges. We give an insight in the current status of the HRCS standardization plans and what the contribution of the HRCS standardization could be to enable other OEMs to achieve the requirements of CARB with less effort.
