Numerical and simulation tools have been around for over 50 years. Computing power, distributed processing, and coding tools (including capabilities and services) are growing at an almost dizzying pace. Yet, labs are still busy, new simulation models are under development, and there are questions still elusive to full simulation (noise, wear, and corrosion to name a few). When can we go from keyboard-to-assembly, without going to the lab or the test track, at all? Can we? Will we ever be able to? And for those aspects where we can now, or consider viable soon, which are the tools, resources, skills, and processes the engineering teams need to do it. With insights from lead engineers and data analytics specialists, these are some of the questions this panel will attempt to answer - based on what we know and attempt to forecast today.
