Keith Sharp, Engineering Specialist, Koyo Bearings of North America (JTEKT) This session reviews the interaction of the wheel bearing to its mating components. While the industry trend to more gen 3 bearings has made the bearings much more robust to many integration issues, there are still many interactions that need to be considered. These interactions include the effect of the bearing on rotor runout, brake corner design for bearing splash protection, the influence of knuckle design to outer ring raceway distortion, and serviceability.
