Exterior Paint Appearance

JD Powers Initial Quality Surveys (IQS) rank vehicles in the Auto Industry based on several criteria. One such criteria is Appearance of Exterior Paint. OEM's use various methods such as orange peel and distinctness of image (OP) to correlate measured values to customer satisfaction. This paper deals with that relationship and investigates other factors such as film build, color, measurement location, paint chemistry, etc. Asian, European, and North American OEM vehicles from several car classes were included in the study.
