On-board Electrostatic PM (ePM) Sensing for Filter IUMPR Compliance

Recent advances in electrostatic sensing of particulates have enabled improvements in sensor response time, sensitivity, and durability. These improvements provide a path to compliance with the recently-approved CARB OBD updates phasing in between 2026 and 2029. This presentation will review the ePM measurement principle, sensor design status, performance data, calibration requirements, cold start performance, and potential applicability to real emissions assessment logging (REAL).
