The AS9100D Lead Auditor course is a self-paced eLearning that presents the requirements of AS9100D from the viewpoint of the Lead Auditor within an organization. The course has three focus areas: AS9100D, ISO 19011, and AS9100D Case Studies. AS9100 covers an introduction to quality management systems, the process approach to managing an organization and risk-management requirements, and clauses 4-10. ISO 19011 focuses on managing and planning an audit, selecting and evaluating auditors and conducting an audit. The AS9100D case studies offer practice applying AS9100D to varied contexts within the aerospace industry. Each section includes review questions designed to develop a deeper understanding and application of the standard to quality management auditing. The full course is estimated to take up to 16 hours to complete.
This eLearning is the fourth and final in SAE’s AS9100D portfolio of courses and is designed for experienced individuals who are involved with quality management systems, implementation, and auditing to the AS9100D standard for aviation, space, and defense. We recommend learners new to AS9100 first enroll in AS9100D Standard Training to gain background in the standard and how to manage an audit program.
This course does not satisfy the training requirements for Third Party Lead Auditor certification; that course is available from SAE at: AS9100D Third Party Lead Auditor.

- List common quality documents related to each section of the AS9100D standard
- Apply the general requirements of AS9100D as they relate to the context of the organization, involvement of leadership, planning responsibilities, organizational support, operation, performance evaluation and continuous improvement requirements of AS9100D to a variety of aerospace related industries

This course is designed for experienced auditing professionals who are involved with quality management systems, implementation, and auditing to AS9100D standard for aviation, space, and defense. It is also appropriate for those auditing managers who will oversee their organization’s internal aerospace quality auditing process.
