The responsibility of the SAE Wheel Committee is to initiate, develop, review and approve the Recommended Practices, Standards, and Information Reports related to wheels and wheel mounting systems and their components of passenger car and light trucks up to a 4,500 kg GVW intended for highway service. The resulting publications will enhance safety, allow uniform testing and performance, create common language, permit common interfaces, harmonize global markets and facilitate trade through standardization.
