The Automotive Corrosion and Prevention Committee is dedicated to: ¿ serve as an interdisciplinary forum for scientists, engineers, designers, owners and other interested parties in the causes and prevention of corrosion of cars, trucks and off-road vehicles ¿ interface with other technical societies and groups having similar or related interests ¿ identify the applicable mechanisms of corrosion of vehicles and their components ¿ identify contributing or causal factors such as environment, design, materials and production processing ¿ develop and publish Recommended Practices, Information Reports, test methods and special publications in order to disseminate information on corrosion and its prevention to automotive designers, manufacturers, fabricators and owners in an effort to minimize its occurrence in service ¿ evaluate and develop test methods and techniques to predict service effectiveness of anticorrosion materials, designs and processing as well as owner maintenance ¿ sponsor technical meetings and seminars for public disclosure of progress and accomplishments in the prevention of corrosion of cars, trucks and off-road vehicles The Cosmetic Corrosion of Automotive Aluminum Task Force was formed under the committee's direction.
