Scope
This specification, in conjunction with the general requirements for steel heat treatment covered in AMS2759, establishes the requirements for heat treatment of carbon and low-alloy steel parts to minimum ultimate tensile strengths below 220 ksi (1517 MPa). Parts are defined in AMS2759.
Rationale
AMS2759/1E has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE five-year review policy.

Issuing Committee
AMS E Carbon and Low Alloy Steels Committee
The committee of Carbon and Low Alloy Steels, AMS Committee E, shall prepare, coordinate, and revise documents related to carbon and low alloy steels technology, such as steel cleanliness and steel quality assurance sampling, through the participation of metals suppliers, users, and interested government agencies. Committee activities shall provide a forum for the cooperative interchange of ideas and experience of the participants, resulting in the publication of specifications that embody sound, established aerospace industry practices and requirements to serve the suppliers and customers of aerospace materials.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A redline comparison of the current version against a revision is accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
