Delivery Ratio Changes with Branched Inlet Systems Attached to a Two-Stroke Cycle Engine

This paper describes the changes produced in the delivery ratio-engine speed characteristics due to the inclusion of a side branch pipe in the inlet pipe of a motored two-stroke cycle engine with piston controlled air intake.
The optimum length of the branch pipe to increase the delivery ratio at every engine speed from 2000 to 6000 rpm is determined experimentally.
A computer program based on the method of characteristics has been developed to simulate the gas dynamic process in the engine, but it is not described at this stage and is left for precise description at a later date and publication.
