Aerospace Engineering provides an overview of new business jets and the technological innovations that make them fly in the first installment of a two-part series.
Despite the lingering economic hardships that continue to haunt some industries, the business jet aircraft industry as a whole is entering 2002 with a full head of steam. Companies such as Dassault, Eclipse, Cessna, Sino Swearingen, Embraer, and Bombardier are continuing with plans to develop new aircraft for the coming years.
A variety of approaches are being used in the development of these aircraft. Dassault is developing an entirely new aircraft with its Falcon 7X. At its heart is a new wing design in which the company has given considerable attention to aerodynamics.
