Engines and hydraulics are brought together by electronics and software.
The engineers who develop electrohydraulic systems are faced with difficult challenges: customers want more functions so they can get more work done in less time, yet regulators want reduced emissions, which makes it costly to provide the power needed to do the work.
To meet these demands, engineers not tasked with designing and selecting engines must work closely with those engineers who do to ensure that all the power is used efficiently. Such a focus on efficiency prompts more interaction between networked modules, which work together to minimize waste. At the same time, software provides more features and functions while also playing a role in improved efficiency.
