NVH analysis comes into the spotlight as traditional targets are addressed and new trouble spots are uncovered.

Today's vehicles are far quieter than those made a decade or two ago, but these improvements have brought a new focus for designers. Sounds that were barely noticeable are now annoying, so the task of reducing these noises is taking on greater importance.

The science surrounding NVH reduction is moving forward quickly as engineers figure out ways to find unwanted sounds and reduce or alter them. That is important because consumers and those who rank vehicle quality have adopted the adage that silence is golden.
