The interface between man and the machine can be made more comfortable, not to mention more productive, via the use of electronics.
It seems that the transportation industry is moving toward removing people from the actual operation of vehicles, whether they be on the ground or 35,000 mi (56,000 km) up. Instead, as the trend goes, we will in the future be relying more and more on computerized systems and their inherent electronics to plow our fields, move our bricks, and fight our wars. But while we wait for that to happen, the operator needs to be comfortable to be productive, and all systems must be perfected, which isn't easy.
