Off-highway engineers have been pretty busy packing smaller and smaller engines with more and more power.
The term “small engine” means something different to those who design-or maintain, for that matter-engines that need to drive a 360-ton (326-t) payload mining truck as opposed to a 17-hp (15-kW) riding mower. The commonality is that engines from small to humongous need to be reliable, durable, and functional for the application, as well as legal in terms of emissions.
