Engineers are using software to better manage product development data, and applying the tools to a new class of problems.

In the aerospace industry, engineering software is typically used to solve structural problems, and while that is still a major consideration, new uses are being developed constantly. Testing is an area that is gradually using more and more engineering software both to manage and interpret the vast quantities of data generated, and to correlate back to simulation results much more quickly than just a couple of years ago. Once confidence is achieved with the analytical model, engineers can get greater insight into behavior from the results than from individual tests.
