Seating solutions steer toward steel

Zoomy-looking designs and alternative materials are eye-catching and save weight, but steel keeps getting lighter.

While desk chairs have evolved imaginatively in recent years, with unique styling and unorthodox placement of the user (such as having weight carried on a knee rest), the other seats where we spend a lot of time, our car seats, haven't changed as much.

The reason for that is simple: desk chairs have no crash safety demands.
