Abstract
Content
This paper aims to analyse the evolution of electric expansion valves in automotive cooling systems in the past decade. A state of the art will be done for two main families of electric expansion valves, linear and rotary, with discussion for both on the electric motor and reducer challenges. Finally a new mechanical solution based on non parallel gears will be proposed, and a potential use of a position sensor and enhanced electronics control shown.
