Durable, temperature-resistant powders and materials enable the manufacture of complex components.
Rapid prototyping has led to new fabrication processes that are on the threshold of revolutionizing airframe and component building. Not only does rapid manufacturing let companies eliminate costly tooling and skip the time-consuming process of creating metal castings, it also lets them create components with complex, internal geometries that are impossible to make with traditional processes.
Those capabilities are challenging design engineers to not only think out of the box, but to rewire the way their brains look at aerospace design.
