Fairchild Dornier remains diligent in the development of the 728 regional jet, employing digital development techniques and new manufacturing methods to improve overall cost of the aircraft.
Despite reports of its continuing financial difficulties, Fairchild Dornier has been determined to complete development of an aircraft it believes will become the leader in the 70-to 110-seat regional jet market segment-the 728JET. Through detailed digital design and development along with innovative manufacturing techniques, the company believes it can keep costs low while taking advantage of what it sees as a competitive marketplace.
Recent forecasts made by the company predict worldwide regional airline traffic to remain robust over the next decade, averaging 8% or higher growth. To fulfill this growth, an estimated 9000 aircraft will be required over the next 20 years to fill capacity needs between 25 and 110 seats.
