Cameras, navigation systems provide input to braking and steering systems that increasingly work in harmony.
Cameras, navigation systems, and by-wire control are among the technologies being employed to deliver smoother rides, better cornering, and shorter stopping distances. System designers are also improving drivability by linking braking and steering controls so they work together more closely.
Electronic controls are changing driving characteristics, for example adjusting suspension systems to reduce the impact of bumps while braking controls are improving. At the same time, designers are following the trend to combine inputs from multiple systems. When electronic controls for active suspensions, anti-lock brakes, and other systems share information, the benefits can be significant.
