More than 100 university teams compete in this premier student racecar design competition combining static and dynamic events.
UNIVERSITAT STUTTGART OF GERMANY in May 2017 won its third Formula SAE Michigan competition in the past five years, finishing comfortably ahead of second-place Oregon State University, thirdplace Graz Technical University, fourth-place UAS Graz and fifth-place University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
“The victory at Michigan means a lot to us, as it was a great chance to defend our world championship title on the track,” Julian Preuss, cocaptain of the Universitat Stuttgart team, told MOMENTUM. “The whole team from the 2015/2016 season came together again to go out and win one last time there. With over 100 combustion teams, it's also the most important event in the world for a combustion team. This year we had strong competitors with Global Formula Racing and the European teams from Munich and Graz, which followed us across the pond. After our great European season, our victory was the icing on the cake.”
