In the panaroma of electric mobility the issue of managing the weights and volumes, introduced by batteries, in EVs is certainly one of the most challenging, however structural batteries could be a valid solution to this problem. Structural batteries are devices capable of combining energy storage capacity with the ability to perform structural functions. The aim of this paper is therefore to present an overview of the main existing types of structural batteries and the applications that are emerging in the field of electric vehicles.
