Microprocessors and sensors are being combined to monitor the way that equipment is being used, then help operators to perform better in that environment.
Electronic technologies dramatically improved engine performance and reduced emissions during the early portion of the off-highway industry's high-tech era. Over the past few years, however, there has been a growing emphasis on making life easier for operators while increasing their efficiency and productivity.
Electronic-control units do everything from smoothing the ride to taking partial control of movement. The systems can help operators steer so they can focus on other aspects of a job, or they can automate repetitive tasks, giving people a chance to relax a bit before it is time to do complex jobs that require more human intervention.
