Deceleration capabilities, along with a wider operating speed range, are some of the enhancements of Delphi's newest system.

The automobile industry continues to introduce increasingly more intelligent vehicles every year with advancements that fuel people's imaginations to foresee a completely autonomous vehicle in the near future. Vehicle intelligent transportation systems (ITS) include advanced technologies that help drivers avoid accidents, reduce traffic jams, and improve traffic flow. Intelligent cruise control, also known as adaptive cruise control (ACC), is one of the features beginning to appear on automobiles around the world.

ACC is an extension of the existing cruise control feature. It links a forward obstacle detection system for monitoring traffic directly in front of the vehicle, the cruise control system (throttle), the brake system, and the driver's input for the desired cruise control set speed. The main objectives of ACC are improved traffic flow, increased driver comfort, and reduced driver workload.
