Multidimensional simulation is increasingly applied to the investigation of the fluid dynamics behavior of hydraulic components.
Numerical analysis has an important role in the design of hydraulic components and systems. In particular, according to researchers from DISMI-University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, multidimensional simulation is being increasingly applied to the investigation of hydraulic components' fluid dynamics to broaden and complete experimental campaigns. Moreover, the human and computational resources involved in numerical analysis are now not only acceptable but also advantageous, due to the continuous development of computational platforms and CFD tools.
Because of more powerful computational resources and the development of more accurate numerical models, it is possible to account for more complex geometries and physical phenomena in CFD simulations. Nevertheless, the accuracy and reliability of numerical results must be addressed when approaching new problems because they are very sensitive to the fluid-dynamics characteristics (such as the Reynolds number in critical sections, geometrical complexity, and boundary conditions).
