Test centers are continually upgrading and expanding their facilities and equipment to handle the latest engine and emissions technology.

Much of the focus when it comes to the testing of today's off-highway equipment is aimed at ensuring that emissions targets are met; however, traditional variables such as performance, drivability, and low fuel consumption also must be addressed during development. Testing equipment and service providers must continually upgrade and develop new equipment to serve as a development partner to engine and vehicle manufacturers.

“Technology is going more and more advanced, particularly in areas where we have fast hydrocarbon monitoring,” said Wolfgang Maus, CEO, Emitec. “The systems are getting more complicated and we have to take up the emissions after each process step, therefore, in particular for SCR test equipment is getting more precise and more complicated.”
