Vehicle interiors are incorporating more and more electronics, telematics, and other advanced technologies, challenging engineers and designers to make them simple, safe, comfortable, and appealing.
A vehicle's mileage mechanism denotes milestones that pass as quickly as a clock tick or last as long as the interval between oil changes. But whether a vehicle lasts 25,000 or 250,000 miles, designers and engineers know consumers count on spending time with an unforgettable vehicle interior.
“A lot of people believe, and I would subscribe to this, that the exterior is what attracts a person to a particular product. But the lasting relationship with that vehicle really involves the interaction that person has with the interior,” asserts Wayne Cherry, General Motors Vice President of Design Centers, adding, “The wow factor is the exterior, but the love factor is that relationship you have with the interior because you're going to live with that everyday.”
