Crude though the means may have been, humans began making and shaping metal several millennia ago. It's a cleaner and more refined undertaking today.

In many places, making metal automotive parts remains a dirty business with the same type of smoke and grime that have marked the industry since its inception.

Those are not Metaldyne places. The Michigan-based company is putting great emphasis on clean and efficient manufacturing as it tries to get more value-add business from OEMs.
