Heading a new model launch is something many engineers aspire to, but that is just one avenue up the corporate ladder.
As Chief Engineer of the redesigned Ford F-150 that launches this year, Frank Davis has tried to keep distractions to a minimum. It's why the 42-year-old drew a blank two months ago when, during a night out with his wife, she asked him what his next career move would be; entering the all-important engineering sign-off phase of the project at the moment, Davis had more urgent job-related concerns.
It was a rare weekday night out with the missus. The couple had agreed when he got the job last year that he'd fully devote his time and attention to the family on weekends, but that during the week the great bulk of his time would be spent with the engineers and other professionals working on the F-150.
