Paul Mascarenas, Ford's Vice President of Engineering for the Americas Product Development, talks about the company's new global product development process.
The sharing of platforms, powertrains, and modules by Ford Motor Co. brands signaled a new direction with the release of Ford, Mazda, and Volvo vehicles five years ago. But the brand-to-brand technology transfers were limited to vehicle sales within a particular region rather than occurring in markets across the globe.
“We're fundamentally changing the way that we're approaching product development,” said Paul Mascarenas, Ford's Vice President of Engineering for the Americas Product Development. The resulting metamorphosis is directly impacting how vehicles are being engineered.
