My email inbox doesn't lie: Hydrogen is having a moment. Each day, practically, for the past few weeks the announcements keep coming - another development partnership or infrastructure advancement, expanded vehicle trials or new composite materials for safer, lighter onboard H2 storage.
As I'm writing this even, the subject line “Hyundai's Xcient Fuel Cell hitting the road in California” flashes on my screen. Thirty of the Class 8 hydrogen-fuel-cell trucks will begin operation in northern California for regional freight distribution by second quarter of 2023. Plans include establishing a high-capacity hydrogen refueling station in Oakland that will support as many as 50 trucks with an average fill of 30 kilograms.
