Eclipse makes business jets affordable

New manufacturing techniques and high-volume approaches are enabling Eclipse to bring an affordable aircraft to the business jet market.

Launched by Eclipse Aviation Corp. in March 2000, the Eclipse 500 is being developed to offer a safe, reliable business jet at an affordable price. With a unit cost of $775,000, the aircraft features a six-passenger capacity, 368 kts (423 mph) cruising speed, a 41,000 foot service ceiling, and a 1800 nmi range.

The Eclipse 500 Jet is designed to serve both the existing general aviation market and a new market, which the company terms the “air limousine” concept. In this market, the aircraft will provide travelers with an alternative for on-demand, point-to-point air travel that is fast, convenient, and safe.
