Designers grab a range of technologies to create controls that are simpler for operators to use.
Off-highway cabs are undergoing a dramatic transformation in both their design and during field operations. Many experienced operators are retiring, reducing the overall skill level of personnel in the field, prompting designers of human-machine interfaces (HMIs) to improve control technologies so less-experienced workers can still complete quality jobs in compressed schedules.
Design teams are employing a number of technologies to help improve operator efficiency. These efforts go beyond the combination of electronics and software, including ergonomics and lots of observation of equipment in daily use.
