The company believes safety is becoming the most important differentiating factor for car buyers.

There is nothing like a fiery crash with airborne cars to draw the attention of NASCAR fans, so by the rough-and-tumble circuit's standards the fireless collision on March 25 involving driver Dale Jarrett was not especially noteworthy.

It had special meaning for Dow Automotive, however-and not just because the company is an associate sponsor of Jarrett's No. 44 car. The company happens to be the supplier of energy-absorbing foam blocks under the skin of the NASCAR-designed Car of Tomorrow that was used by the entire field during the Nextel Cup race in which Jarrett put the foam to use, albeit involuntarily.
