The U.S. military is in the midst of a mighty push at its bases and depots to shorten the time it takes to get aircraft, trucks, tanks, and other weapon systems out the gate after they arrive for repair.
Keeping U.S. warfighters properly equipped is a lot more complex than speeding up the process to repair broken or worn-out weapon systems, but it is important enough that the military is making an extra effort to improve its approach to fixing things.
That effort entails more than going faster; it also means doing things in a more cost-efficient way. But even doing things faster and more efficiently represents an improvement only if the end result is that soldiers, sailors, and Marines have the equipment they need to do their job.
