Ever-improving computer-based tools are helping engineers complete more complex designs in shorter time frames with downsized staffs.
Design tools are reinventing the way that cars are designed, dramatically reducing the need for physical prototypes. Improved software and faster hardware let engineers run larger systems in less time, letting them look at larger portions of the vehicle while storing far more detail.
While the ability to work with larger files is a key factor in helping engineers meet tighter design deadlines, shorter processing times for simulations are arguably more important. When engineers can get results quickly, they can focus on the job at hand without losing their train of thought.
