- The development of technology is increasing the introduction of ADAS and autonomous driving technologies for improving the safety of automobiles and supporting drivers. Various components such as camera sensors are being added to vehicles for the operation of ADAS and autonomous driving systems, which complicates the system and makes safety-related issues more important. The ISO has introduced the ISO 26262 standard to prevent accidents caused by errors in E/E systems applied to vehicles and is preparing to introduce the ISO 21448 standard to cope with the safety of autonomous vehicles. In order to implement autonomous driving technology, parts such as camera sensors must be applied to vehicles, and ISO 21448 must be applied because camera sensors should prevent the risk of bad conditions and performance constraints. However, ISO 21448 is a standard under enactment, and it is difficult to apply to the actual development process. This paper proposes a process for applying ISO/PAS 21448 to the actual development process and a camera image recognition system using the process. The process of ISO/PAS 21448 was analyzed and newly proposed to enhance the applicability and secure safety. In addition, the proposed process was applied to the camera image recognition system simulation to derive data and confirm the effect of the intended functional safety.
