Creating, customizing aircraft interiors

Aircraft designers who have made the transition to digital design tools are expanding their use as the tools extend their capabilities.

As in most aspects of aircraft design, creating interiors is a complex blend of mechanics, electronics, and other fields. Product designers work with a range of digital design tools as they develop interiors that are safe, quiet, efficient, and as comfortable as possible.

“With the level of detail we put into cabins, we need a lot of tools,” said Vince Restivo, Director of Completion Design at Gulfstream Aerospace. “We have modeling tools, light rendering software, and collaborative tools that let us import files. It's a very broad spectrum.”
