Executive Viewpoints-Vehicle Development Insights from Industry: Off-Highway 2020 and Beyond- Collaborations will drive success in the future.

Since engines are a key component of off-highway end products, it is important that we completely understand the needs of our customers around the world. By collaborating with our OEMs, we work to deliver specific features, technologies, and overall engine performance needed so they, in turn, can deliver cost-effective, high-quality products to an ever changing market. As OEMs navigate evolving global conditions, collaborative working relationships with key suppliers such as Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power will become even more valuable, if not critical, to remaining competitive in the marketplace.

We see three key areas where the collaboration between OEMs and suppliers will increase on our way to 2020 and beyond. OEMs will likely continue the trend of outsourcing functions such as R&D and application engineering. They will also continue to demand more from less in terms of power, efficiency, and cost. Simultaneously, they will be looking for all of this from a condensed number of sources as the effort to consolidate suppliers intensifies.
