CMT, with its unique characteristics, is a process that was designed particularly for welding of thin materials while achieving high quality standards.
The cold metal transfer (CMT) process was introduced into industry more than four years ago and was developed to reduce heat transfer to the substrate during the welding of metals.
According to researchers from Fronius International GmbH, the CMT process has distinct advantages over the conventional gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process in which the heat input is much greater. CMT was developed specifically for the dip transfer method, which in the recent past had been notoriously difficult to work with.
