Charging ahead

Nissan's Senior Vice President, Minoru Shinohara, explains the battery technology that will allow feasible electric cars, while not forgetting to mention the GT-R supercar.

Nissan is electrifying two vehicle lines, one by introducing electricity to the car, and the other by shocking the driver. Senior Vice President in charge of Nissan's Technology Development Division Minoru Shinohara explained the first; the company's electric vehicle launch beginning in 2010.

Shinohara's engineering and management career has had many facets since he joined Nissan in 1977 after earning a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Kyoto University. He has worked largely in product and advanced powertrain-related fields.
