Emerging lighting technologies deliver more design flexibility as they get brighter, smarter, and smaller.
Headlight designers face a variety of often-conflicting pressures, with factors such as cost, performance, space, and style in opposition to one another. Even within each of these areas there are different parameters. Does space, for example, refer to total volume or visible frontal area?
Balancing all of these factors against the evolving capabilities of new technology is the challenge of lighting engineers, who seek to project the most light possible right where the driver wants it, without blinding oncoming traffic, for the cheapest possible price, in a stylish form that consumes the least space possible.
