TOYOTA'S RECALL WOES of the past year are well known to anyone connected to the automotive world-and that includes those people whose only connection to the industry is through vehicle ownership. Undoubtedly, the most publicized of those recall issues relates to unintended acceleration and the role of Toyota's electronic throttle control system (ETCS) in such cases.
Perhaps less well known is how the Japanese automaker has responded to these issues over the past several months, and how these actions are affecting its product development. Toyota Motor Corp. (TMC) executives shared their insights with AEI and other select media recently in Toyota City, Japan.
