Automating cavity-wax application

European standard enters the U.S. marketplace as automation of the complex operation takes over.

The automotive market is becoming less confined by hemispheric boundaries. International manufacturers are opening plants on North American soil and bringing with them European technology and standards not typically used by U.S. auto manufacturers. One of these is vehicle cavity wax.

Robert Nadler, the Team Leader in design-engineering and tooling for wax application at the BMW Group, Surface Technology Coating and Application Centre, explained that cavity wax is the European standard for vehicle corrosion protection.
