The editors of Automotive Engineering International highlight some of the innovative new products and technologies on exhibit at the SAE 2005 World Congress, based on the latest information provided by suppliers.

The AnyBody Modeling System from AnyBody Technology determines the influence of the environment on the human body. It enables engineers to investigate the ergonomic consequences of design parameters. It computes forces in individual muscles, joint forces, metabolism, elastic energy in tendons, and antagonistic muscle actions. The system also models objects interfacing with the human body such as an automobile seat, steering wheel, and gearshift. The models in Anybody are parametric and can be optimized to fulfill a given purpose. Using a PC, models with hundreds of muscles can be analyzed.
