Axion makes a crystal-clear case for the superiority of its lead-carbon battery/capacitor hybrid product over lead-acid batteries.
A battery with good dynamic charge acceptance (DCA) and stop-start cycle life is key in maximizing the fuel efficiency and minimizing the CO2 emissions of micro-hybrid vehicles. The more opportunity for a micro-hybrid's internal-combustion engine to be shut off, the better. When the engine is shut off during vehicle operation, batteries are relied on to provide power for all vehicle functions.
But the lead-acid battery, even an advanced one, is proving to be less than optimal for energy storage in micro-hybrids because of its inherent insufficiencies in DCA and stop-start cycle life.
