Ferrari launches an even higher-tech, road-going supercar.
As the old saying has it, “What goes around comes around.” In the case of Ferrari's new F430, it is the design of its nose-with reflections of the shark-like frontal treatment of the 156 that carried Phil Hill to the Formula One (F1) World Championship in 1961.
But really, the F430 is very much a 21st-century supercar with an output of 360 kW (483 hp) at 8500 rpm from its newly designed 4.3-L V8 engine, an electronic differential (E-diff), and a “manettino,” a steering wheel-mounted multi-position rotary switch that manages the integrated systems governing vehicle dynamics. The F430 replaces the 360 Modena and moves the Ferrari road-car game along apace. “Every inch of the car” was inspired by the engineering research carried out at Ferrari's Gestione Sportiva F1 racing division, according to the company.
