The scope of this SAE performance standard is to provide a simple, practical, and broadly applicable test procedure for appraising luminous Illuminant A reflectance of reflecting safety glazing materials for road vehicles. This SAE performance standard, which provides a simple test procedure widely used in the optics field, may be used to measure the reflectivity which films applied to safety glazing materials for road vehicles may enhance. This test procedure applies to conditions where feasibility, rather than accuracy of measurement, is of prime importance. Measurements can be made outside laboratories in a quality control environment and in similar applications, when glazings, instead of small test specimens, have to be tested.
This standard specifies a method for testing and measuring the deflection of friction materials assemblies and compressibility of friction materials. This standard applies to disc brake pad assemblies and its coupons or segments, brake shoe lining and its coupons or segments, and brake blocks segments used in road vehicles. This SAE test method is consistent in intent with the ISO 6310 and the JIS 4413.
This specification covers a fluorocarbon (FKM) rubber in the form of O-rings, compression seals, O-ring cord, and molded-in-place gaskets for aeronautical and aerospace applications. For sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions, and molded shapes use the AMS3353 specification which is intended for that use.
This specification covers a water-base cleaner in the form of a liquid.
This SAE Recommend Practice specifies a method for measuring the deflection of friction materials and disc brake pad assemblies in a manner more consistent with classical material compressive strain testing. This SAE test method differs from SAE J2468 in the preload and maximum load applied to the test sample when deflection is measured. It adopts the material applied stress levels found in ISO 6310 (0.5 to 8.0 MPa) using a 25 mm diameter flat plunger.
This specification covers a concentrated rust removing compound in the form of a liquid to be diluted with water for use either at ambient or elevated temperature.
This specification covers a shampoo type carpet cleaner in the form of a liquid.
This specification covers an electrolytic alkaline cleaner in the form of a water soluble powder.
This specification covers a thickened, water-base, type cleaner in the form of a gel.
This specification covers an alkaline rust remover compound in the form of a liquid concentrate or a water-soluble powder for dilution with water.
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) covers the determination of the amount of stock loss caused by use of chemical cleaning agents on aircraft turbine engine materials.
This specification covers an alkaline cleaner in the form of a liquid for use above 65 °C (154 °F).
This specification covers an acidic deoxidizer in the form of a liquid.
The specification establishes the requirements for a liquid cleaning compound intended for use in steam cleaning machines to clean metallic and painted, soiled surfaces.
This specification covers hand and air operated, solvent and oil spray guns.
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended as the definition of a standard test, but may be subject to frequent change to keep pace with experience and technical advances. This should be kept in mind when considering its use. The SAE No. 2 Friction Test Machine is used to evaluate the friction characteristics of automatic transmission plate clutches with automotive transmission fluids. It can also be used to conduct durability tests on wet friction systems. The specific purpose of this document is to define a 3600 rpm Stepped Power Test for the evaluation of wet friction system performance variation as a function of power level. This procedure uses an initial engagement speed of 3600 rpm and is intended as a standard procedure for common use by both suppliers and end users. The only variables selected by the supplier or user of the friction system are: a Friction Material b Fluid c Reaction Plates These three variables must be clearly identified when reporting the results of using this
This specification covers a magnesium alloy in the form of sand castings (see 8.6).

The SAE No 2 Friction Test Machine is used to evaluate the friction characteristics of automatic transmission plate clutches with automotive transmission fluids. It can also be used to conduct durability tests on wet friction systems. The specific purpose of this document is to define a Durability Test based on a specific power level selected from either the 3600 r/min Stepped Power Test or from the 6000 r/min Stepped Power Test, for the evaluation of wet friction system performance variation as a function of number of cycles. This standard procedure is intended for common use by both suppliers and end users to allow objective comparisons of wet friction material system performance. The only variables selected by the supplier or user of the friction system are: a
